The Lighthouse Feels

Who knew lighthouses could also be visit-worthy spots when traveling around PH? Parolas, as we locally call it are commonly found in most coastlines of provinces. Since these are often located atop hills, expect stunning panoramic views of the sea by the cliffs.

In the northern part of Luzon, there is Cape Bojeador aka Burgos lighthouse in Ilocos Norte. I went here back in 2012 as part of our packaged tour around Ilocos. This was the first lighthouse I reached! 😀

Another parola to watch out for is Cape Bolinao in Pangasinan. I was able to visit this back in 2013 as part of our packaged tour in Pangasinan. Thanks to tours like this, I continued to discover tourist/historical spots in the form of these towering structures.

In the Visayas region, there’s Guisi Lighthouse in Guimaras. The photos were taken in 2016 during my DIY trip to Iloilo-Guimaras.

TIP: Charter a tricycle for a whole day city/inland tour around Guimaras and they will take you to all the must see places in town, including this 18th century Spanish-colonial parola. The tour costs around Php 600-800 depends on how you haggle. 😉

When visiting Isla de Gigantes in Carles, Iloilo for island hopping, don’t miss the Gigantes Norte Parola. This is often the first stop your guide will take you to early in the morning as you start the tour. You will ride a habal-habal (motorbike) going to the jumpoff point then take an easy 10-15 minutes hike uphill to reach the lighthouse.

Among these tall structures that I’ve been to, the most picturesque for me so far is Dingalan White Beach Lighthouse in Aurora. This place is also hailed as Batanes of the East given its similarities in stunning landscapes. I look forward to reaching the popular lighthouse in Batanes too in my visit there next year. 😉

The view here is simply breathtaking! The cool breeze and sound of crashing waves are truly relaxing. ❤

Dingalan White Beach

It’s priceless to immerse yourself in a wonderful and scenic view of rolling hills and vast seascape like this. ❤ Oops, don’t disturb that lucky, sunbathing doge too. 😀 #grateful

There you have it, on your next trip in PH try #lighthousegoals as part of your itinerary and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. More parolas to go! 🙂
